04b – Signs that God Sent Moses

Genesis 4:1-9

Moses is talking to God in the burning bush.

Moses: But they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice: for they will say, The Lord has not appeared to you.

The Lord: What is that in your hand?

Moses: A rod.

The Lord: Cast it on the ground.

Moses cast his rod on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses ran from it.

The Lord: Put out your hand and take the serpent by the tail.

Moses put forth his hand, and caught the serpent by the tail, and it became a rod in his hand.

The Lord: That they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you. Now put your hand into your bosom.

Moses put his hand into his bosom, and when he took it out his hand was leprous as snow.

The Lord: Put your hand into your bosom again.

Moses put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and it was turned again as his other flesh.

The Lord: If they will not believe you, nor listen to the voice of the first sign, they will believe the voice of the latter sign. And if they will not believe also these two signs, nor listen to your voice, you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land: and the water which you take out of the river shall become blood on the dry land.

(Note: This last sign is NOT the first plague where ALL of the water of the river is turned to blood. For this sign Moses will take only a small amount of water from the river, and it will become blood when he pours it onto the dry land.)
