09a – Fifth Plague of Egypt: Livestock

Exodus 9:1-7

The Lord appointed a set time.

The Lord (to Moses): Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, the Lord God of the Hebrews says this, Let my people go, that they may serve me, because if you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them, the hand of the Lord is on your cattle which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the oxen, and on the sheep. There will be a very grievous disease. And the Lord will separate between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt. Of all that is the children’s of Israel, nothing will die.

The Lord appointed a set time.

The Lord: Tomorrow the Lord of the Hebrews will do this thing in the land.

The next day, the Lord did that thing. All the cattle of Egypt died, but not one of the cattle of the children of Israel died.

Pharaoh sent men to see if any of the Hebrews’ animals were dead. Not one of the cattle of the Israelites was dead.

The heart of Pharaoh was hardened. He didn’t let the people go.
